Arrival in the White City

Depart Marrakech early morning. Head north via the modern A7 motorway, passing the Beni Mellal mountains. Arrive in Casablanca (240 km, ~2.5 h). Visit the iconic Hassan II Mosque — the world's largest mosque set on the Atlantic coast. Explore the Art Deco Corniche, the old medina and the Habous Quarter with its French-colonial architecture. Check in to your riad in Casablanca.

  • Corniche promenade & old medina
  • Habous Quarter (New Medina)
Morocco's Capital

A short 90 km drive north brings you to Rabat, Morocco's elegant capital. Explore the Kasbah des Oudayas overlooking the Atlantic and the Bou Regreg estuary. Visit the Mohammed V Mausoleum and the unfinished Hassan Tower — a 12th-century minaret. Stroll the UNESCO-listed medina and the modern Ville Nouvelle's tree-lined boulevards. Overnight in Rabat.

  • Mohammed V Mausoleum & Hassan Tower
  • UNESCO medina & Chellah necropolis
Roman Ruins & Imperial Splendour

Drive inland to Meknès (200 km, ~2.5 h) with a stop at the remarkable Volubilis Roman ruins — Morocco's best-preserved Roman site and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore intact mosaic floors, triumphal arches and temples. Continue to Meknès, Moulay Ismail's imperial city. Marvel at the monumental Bab Mansour gate, the granaries and the royal stables. Overnight in Meknès.

  • Volubilis Roman ruins (UNESCO) — ~1.5 h stop

The Medieval Capital

Just 60 km separates Meknès and Fès. Arrive in Fès el-Bali, the world's largest car-free urban area and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. An afternoon introduction: the Bou Inania Madrasa, the Chouara tanneries (best viewed from leather shop terraces), and the buzzing Talaa Kebira street of spice merchants, copper smiths and weavers. Overnight in a traditional riad.

  • Bou Inania Madrasa & Al-Attarine
  • Chouara tanneries viewpoint
  • Talaa Kebira souk street
Deeper Into Fès el-Bali

A full day to explore Fès at a slower pace. Visit the Mellah (Jewish quarter) with its ornate synagogues, the Andalusian quarter across the Fès river, and the Nejjarine fountain and wood museum. Optional: cooking class in a riad kitchen or a Hammam. In the afternoon, explore the Fès el-Jdid (new medina) and the Royal Palace gates. Overnight in Fès.

The Blue Pearl of Morocco

Drive north through the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen (200 km, ~2.5 h). This mountain village dyed almost entirely in shades of blue is one of Morocco's most photogenic destinations. Explore the labyrinthine blue medina, the kasbah museum, and hike to the Spanish Mosque above town for panoramic views. Don't miss the Ras el-Maa waterfall where locals do laundry in icy mountain water. Overnight in Chefchaouen.

Atlantic Coast & Return

A long but scenic final day (optional Essaouira stop, or direct to Marrakech if preferred). Drive south through the Middle Atlas and Casablanca region to reach the Atlantic port town of Essaouira — blue fishing boats, wind-swept ramparts and argan-oil souks. After a lunch break and medina stroll, continue the final 175 km back to Marrakech, arriving evening. Circuit complete.

  • Skala sea-wall ramparts

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — many travellers fly into Casablanca (CMN) and start the circuit there. We can also arrange for the circuit to finish in Marrakech (RAK) so you fly out from there. Just mention your arrival/departure airports at booking.

No, it's optional. If you prefer to head straight from Chefchaouen to Marrakech (~8 h direct), we can omit Essaouira. Alternatively, we can spend the night in Essaouira and do the final Marrakech drive on Day 8 as an extension.

Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are ideal — mild temperatures, green Rif Mountains, and fewer crowds in Chefchaouen. Summer works but Fès and Casablanca can be hot (35–40°C). December–February is quiet and cool, with the risk of rain in the Rif.

Fès el-Bali has 9,400 alleyways — a licensed local guide for half a day is strongly recommended and typically costs €20–30. Your driver can arrange one in advance. We'll connect you with vetted guides who speak English, French, Spanish, or German.

The sedan fits 1–3 passengers (plus luggage), the van up to 6, and the minibus up to 12. The circuit price is per vehicle, not per person — so larger groups get better value per head.

Transport Only: We handle all driving. You book your own hotels independently (Booking.com, Airbnb, etc.). Transport + Hotels: We book quality riads and guesthouses for you — vetted, centrally located, breakfast included. Price shown is total per person (minimum 2 pax).
