About the Fes to Marrakech Transfer

Leaving Fes — Morocco's most ancient imperial city — and heading south to Marrakech is one of the classic Morocco overland journeys. The route covers approximately 560 km and takes around 5 hours 30 minutes by private car via the scenic Middle Atlas route.

From Fes, the road heads south through Meknès (another imperial city, worth a stop if time allows), then climbs into the cedar-forested Middle Atlas mountains. You pass through Ifrane — Morocco's alpine university town with its distinctive red-roofed European-style buildings — and the Azrou cedar forest, where wild Barbary macaques often appear roadside. The descent continues west through the fertile Beni Mellal plains before joining the A7 motorway southwest to Marrakech.

This is a private, door-to-door transfer. We pick you up from your riad or hotel in Fes and deliver you to your accommodation in Marrakech — no buses, no train changes, no station transfers.

Practical Travel Tips: Fes to Marrakech

Departure time: Depart Fes by 7:00–8:00 AM to arrive in Marrakech by early afternoon, with the rest of the day to explore the medina before sunset.

Meknès stop: If you haven't yet seen Meknès, the imperial city is just 60 km west of Fes. A brief stop at the Bab Mansour gate and the Place el-Hedim adds only 30–45 minutes to the journey.

Ifrane: This unusual mountain town looks more Swiss than Moroccan — red-roofed chalets, clean streets, a major university. A 15-minute coffee stop here is pleasant before the long drive south.

On arriving in Marrakech: The Marrakech medina is most atmospheric in the late afternoon and evening. Arriving early afternoon gives you time to settle in before the Jemaa el-Fna square comes alive with storytellers, musicians and food stalls at dusk.
