Day-by-Day Program
Your private driver meets you each morning. All stops are flexible — this is your trip.
Your driver picks you up from your riad or hotel in the morning. The route heads south through the High Atlas, climbing to the Tizi n'Tichka pass at 2,260m — the highest paved road in North Africa — with sweeping views across the range. Descend into the pre-Saharan south and stop at Aït-Ben-Haddou, the UNESCO-listed mud-brick kasbah used as a film set for Gladiator, Game of Thrones and Lawrence of Arabia. Continue through the Draa Valley to Ouarzazate for the night.
The most dramatic driving day. Head east along the Route des Kasbahs, stopping at the photogenic red-rock Dades Gorge. Continue to Todra Gorge, where 300-metre limestone walls tower over a narrow river — one of the most impressive natural sites in Morocco. Then the landscape opens into the Tafilalet oasis and the first dunes appear on the horizon. Arrive in Merzouga late afternoon as the light turns golden over the Erg Chebbi. Camel ride at sunset is strongly recommended.
A day entirely given to the desert. Wake before sunrise to climb the Erg Chebbi dunes — up to 150 metres high — for one of the most extraordinary sunrises on earth. After breakfast, explore the villages at the dune's edge or rest at your camp. In the late afternoon, mount a camel and trek into the dunes as the sun sets. Spend the night in a desert camp under the stars, with music around the fire. Camp is included in the Transport + Hotels option.
A long drive north, full of surprises. Pass through the Ziz Gorges and palmery — a long corridor of date palms following the oasis river. Stop in Midelt for lunch in apple country. Climb through the Azrou cedar forest, where Barbary macaque monkeys live among the trees. Cross through the improbable alpine town of Ifrane, then descend to the ancient walls of Fès. Arrive early evening.
Your last day belongs to Fès el-Bali, the largest car-free urban area in the world. Explore the labyrinthine lanes with a local guide. Visit the Chouara tanneries — the leather dyeing pits unchanged since the 11th century. See Al-Quaraouiyine, founded in 859 AD, the world's oldest continuously operating university. Evening departure or overnight stay, your choice.

For 1–3 passengers we recommend the sedan (comfortable with luggage for 5 days). Groups of 4–6 should choose the van, and 7 or more the minibus. The vehicle price covers the full circuit regardless of passenger count.
No — the desert camp overnight and camel ride are part of the Transport + Hotels package. With transport only, you arrange your own accommodation. We're happy to recommend desert camps at every budget via WhatsApp.
October to April is ideal — mild days in the desert (15–25°C) and cool clear nights for stargazing. The Atlas pass can have snow in Jan–Feb but stays passable. July–August is very hot in Merzouga (40°C+) and not recommended.
