Day-by-Day Program

Your private driver meets you each morning. All stops are flexible — this is your trip.

Day 1 Marrakech → Ouarzazate Atlas crossing · Aït-Ben-Haddou

Your driver picks you up from your hotel and heads south over the High Atlas via Tizi n'Tichka pass (2,260m). Stop at Aït-Ben-Haddou, the UNESCO-listed mud-brick ksar rising above the Ounila River — arguably the most cinematic spot in Morocco, used in Gladiator, Game of Thrones and over 20 other productions. Continue to Ouarzazate for the night, with time to walk the Taourirt Kasbah.

Day 2 Ouarzazate → Dades Gorge Route des Kasbahs · rose valley

Drive east along the Route des Kasbahs — a corridor of fortified mud towers between the High Atlas and the Jbel Saghro. Stop at Skoura oasis with its thousands of date palms and the fortified Amridil Kasbah. Pass through the Valley of Roses around El Kelaa M'Gouna, famous for its annual May rose festival and argan cooperatives. End the day in the Dades Gorge, where the dramatic red-rock canyon walls rise sharply above a narrow valley — one of Morocco's most photogenic landscapes.

Day 3 Dades → Todra Gorge → Merzouga Canyon · Sahara · desert camp

The day begins with a morning walk through the Dades Gorge canyon before continuing east to Todra Gorge, where sheer 300-metre limestone walls narrow to a passage just 10 metres wide with a cold river running through. The drive then opens across the flat stone plains of the Tafilalet to Merzouga. At sunset, mount a camel and trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes to reach your private desert camp. Dinner around the fire, Berber music and a sky blazing with stars.

Day 4 Merzouga → Marrakech Sunrise dunes · return via Draa Valley

Rise before dawn to climb the dunes and watch the Saharan sunrise — golden light breaking over 150-metre high sand mountains. After breakfast in camp, depart for Marrakech. Take the southern return route through the Draa Valley (via Rissani and Zagora) for a completely different landscape — long corridors of date palms, ancient kasbahs and ochre-pink villages alongside the longest river in Morocco. Arrive Marrakech by evening.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 4 days enough to see the desert properly?

Yes — 4 days gives you time to enjoy the journey (not just rush through it), with a full night in the desert at Erg Chebbi. If you want more time at the dunes or to visit Fès on the way back, consider our 5-day or 7-day circuits instead.

Do we drive back through the same route?

No — we return via the southern Draa Valley route (Rissani → Zagora → Ouarzazate) which is a completely different landscape from the outward journey. You'll see the Draa palmery, ancient kasbahs and different terrain throughout.

Can we start from Agadir or Fès instead of Marrakech?

Yes. We can start from Agadir (slightly longer Day 1), Fès (one-way circuit ending in Marrakech) or any other Moroccan city. Contact us via WhatsApp with your start city and we'll adjust the route and price.

What should I pack for the desert camp?

Warm layers for the night (desert gets cold, 5–10°C in winter), a headlamp, sunscreen and sunglasses for daytime, and cash for tips and any extra activities. Camps provide blankets and basic toiletries.
